I will freely admit I will chose a drawn/painted cover over a photo cover any day if it’s from an author I don’t know. I might be missing out on a whole lot of awesome books, but I just can’t stand photo covers.

You’re right about Jim. He doesn’t look so bad on the cover of that book, but just seeing his head and nothing else, he looks kind of smarmy.

I just hate photo covers. Of any kind. They’re always so boring and dumb. And not just Sweet Valley photo covers, but all books. There are some exceptions (A Certain Slant of Light comes to mind, and The Basic Eight) but for the most part, I’d much rather see a drawn/painted cover than a photo cover.

I think I need to change “Jim Roberts looks like someone who would slip a roofie in your drink at a college frat party” to “Jim Roberts looks like someone who would slip a roofie in your drink at a college frat party who eventually grows up to be a politician”.

Those SY covers are just as bad as the ones with the truck stop hooker twins from the show. I want Jessica’s wonky bangs and Liz’s matching barrettes back. I thought I’d never say that.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. I was in the WORST mood earlier until I found your site (through link on Go Fug Yourself) and now I am laughing out loud!

I LOVED these books as I kid, though I think I only got up to around 45 or 50.

I think Roger Barrett kinda looks like a younger, less bald version of George on Seinfeld.

Easy Annie looks kinda like Courtney Cox during the Springsteen “Dancing in the Dark” video era.
